8 Ain't So Great
The CCAA (China Center of Adoption Affairs) has updated their system with referrals through January 4th, 2006. This again makes only 8 days of referrals this month. Wanna know something interesting? The 2008 Summer Olympics will begin on August 8th, 2008 (8-8-08) with the opening ceremony commencing at 8:08:08 pm CST (China Standard Time) at the Beijing National Stadium in Beijing, People's Republic of China. The number 8 is associated with prosperity and confidence in Chinese culture. So how does 8 measure up in my book? I'm beginning to hate 8.

Hey Jay! As soon as I read this I thought of Romans 8:28... "God causes ALL things work together for good for those who love Him...." Remember, just because you can't SEE what God is doing, be sure He IS doing! Faith...that's what it is...believing what you CANNOT see! Faith...believing...trusting...God is ABSOLUTELY GOOD. HE is your Shepherd, your Rock, your Fortress, your Shield, your Defender, your Provider, your Sustainer, your Peace, your Joy, your Redeemer, your Helper, your Deliverer, your Comforter, your Counselor...no one or nothing else...Jesus alone! AND He causes ALL things to work for good for you! Even the number 8! I love you! Mom

My name is Jay. I am a 37 year old guy, elated to be married to my beautiful bride of 15 years, Laura. We have two sons, Evan and Colin, who are just about the most amazing two boys that anyone, anywhere, has ever known. We have a beautiful daughter named Raina, whom we have recently adopted from China - and quite simply, she has completely lit up our world. I am a bass-playing worship leader at Parkview Christian Church who happens to earn a living as a communications technician in the mighty city of Chicago. I make a very human attempt at following my savior Jesus Christ as closely as I can, so I am therefore very thankful for His grace. He laid down His life in order to purchase mine, and gave me eternal life in exchange for my trust in Him. He has proven Himself faithful to me throughout my life, which is why I hold fast to Him.
