This blog is dedicated primarily to our beautiful daughter Raina. "Brothers and sisters, consider the farmer, who waits patiently for the rain..."

Dedication Day
On Sunday, February 21st, Raina was dedicated at our church. For the occasion, Laura put her in the world's most adorable dress. She was an instant hit... and the pictures speak for themselves. On an obviously more important note, it was an incredible blessing to be able to stand in front of the congregation and recognize Raina as an official part of our family. She is truly the most precious gift from God and it was a privilege to make the commitment publicly to raise her in a manner that will please Him, with the prayerful hope that one day she will understand Jesus' love for her. We praise Him daily for her life.
I googled "Welcome to Holland" to cut and paste on my blog and came up with your blog, it mus be fate because our son, Benjamin was also born with VACTERL (including one kidney and anal atresia and oh, so much more) and our favorite adult with VACTERl named Raina. It sounds liek you are new to the world of dealing with VACTERL, so if you are looking for resources/support, please feel free to email me. There is a whole community of adults with VACTERL and parents of children with VACTERL on a yahoo group and several other resurces through the Pull Through Network. In the meantime, enjoy that beautiful little doll who has joined your family!
Hy. I did come across your blog while seeing your post in a forum, and I guess curiosity made me check it out. It sure is a heart warming story and I wish youguys the best of luck
My name is Jay. I am a 37 year old guy, elated to be married to my beautiful bride of 15 years, Laura. We have two sons, Evan and Colin, who are just about the most amazing two boys that anyone, anywhere, has ever known. We have a beautiful daughter named Raina, whom we have recently adopted from China - and quite simply, she has completely lit up our world. I am a bass-playing worship leader at Parkview Christian Church who happens to earn a living as a communications technician in the mighty city of Chicago. I make a very human attempt at following my savior Jesus Christ as closely as I can, so I am therefore very thankful for His grace. He laid down His life in order to purchase mine, and gave me eternal life in exchange for my trust in Him. He has proven Himself faithful to me throughout my life, which is why I hold fast to Him.
